Massage is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. It's not about pampering, it's about survival. Our bodies can only take so much, and they are there for us twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Taking time for massage on a regular basis gives your body an opportunity to release chronic tension patterns, prevent injuries as well as help you heal faster if one does occur. Massage was one of the few techniques that addressed for me chronic stiffness, tension and pain in my body after recovering from a serious car accident.
Massage can feel soothing and supportive for those struggling with health and life issues. Massage provides an opportunity for the chronic build-up of stress to leave the body. Whether the stress comes from a long commute, hours behind a desk and computer, or from something as serious as a major car accident or illness such as cancer. Sessions are provided in a serene environment with soft lighting and music to enhance the experience. Therapeutic Massage can help you restore balance and provide you with a number of mind/body health benefits.
Sessions may incorporate all of the following techniques, except hot stone therapy which is performed as a separate treatment. Each session is geared towards client preference and a discussion of current health concerns. When in doubt whether massage is appropriate for your specific situation, speak to your health care provider. When receiving massage for help with any condition, it is important that you communicate any discomfort related to anything your practitioner is doing, or your position on the table, etc.
Medical Massage: appropriate for acute and chronic conditions, promotes relaxation and stress relief, pain relief and enhances the overall healing process. Techniques can include light touch, non-circulatory massage, rehabilitative techniques for injury recovery, and pre/post surgery techniques for stress relief and improved healing outcomes. Medical massage is helpful for those with chronic health issues such as fibromyalgia, MS, cancer, as well as those recovering from physical trauma such as accidents and sports injuries.
Swedish Massage: incorporating light to deep pressure, long flowing strokes that promote relaxation, improve circulation and range of motion, and relieve muscular tension.
Deep Tissue: relieves chronic patterns of tension in the body through deep strokes along contracted areas, focusing on connective tissue and deep layers of muscle.
Acupressure and energy healing: specific points along the bodies meridians or energy channels are stimulated or held to relieve blockages, which may be experienced as physical or emotional pain. For more information about energy healing, click here.
Animal Massage : sessions available for animals recovering from injuries, surgeries, or other health conditions. Available for horses and dogs.
